What is the IP Marketplace?
CanBiotech’s IP marketplace is an online exchange where members can post and efficiently locate Canadian and U.S. biotechnology and intellectual property (IP) that is available for licensing, for investment, and/or for partnering-joint venture or strategic alliance. Posters of technology/IP can include academics, technology transfer officers, start-up entrepreneurs, and established biotechnology companies. Receivers of technology can include other entrepreneurs in the same biotechnology arena, venture capitalists, angel investors, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. The marketplace is NOT a list marketplace, but involves communication between the IP holder and IP receiver and an invitation process by the IP receiver via CanBiotech provided dialog boxes. These dialog boxes only appear after registration in our marketplaces, including agreement to CanBiotech's terms and conditions.

2. Register as a technology/IP poster by completing the mandatory registration forms (basic and advanced).

3. Indicate that you have read and consent to the Terms and Conditions/Policy Statements. You are now a member of the IP marketplace.

4. Edit your profile at any time.

To submit an IP posting:

5. Freely post technology/IP on CanBiotech’s IP marketplace using the IP template provided by CanBiotech. Technology/IP listors will be required to only post non-confidential information regarding a technology/IP.

IP posting templates can be found at http://www.canbiotech.com/mpIPListing.asp and should be filled only by IP holders to be received by partners, investors and/or companies.

6. Use the poster portlet to receive feedback from potential partners, investors and/or companies.

7. Answer specific questions of partners, investors and/or companies.

8. Use the poster portlet to see which technology/IP listing is of interest to a potential partner for further development-watch for an invitation from a potential partner.

9. Respond to a partner's invitation.

10. Receive the partner's contact information.

11. Contact the partner and finalize the details offline.

13. Close the listing/deal when you no longer wish to receive invitations from partners.  

Benefits to the Listor:
Canadian entrepreneurs can use this IP marketplace to interact with North American as well as international partners, investors and/or companies. CanBiotech’s IP marketplace will enable for the cohesive representation of North American biotechnology/IP. Entrepreneur’s can post FREELY and be assured that CanBiotech will not require additional transaction fees should a deal be made with a potential partner.


The Process for the Receiver:

1. Login.

2. Register as a technology/IP receiver by completing the mandatory registration forms (basic and advanced).

3. The advanced registration requires the receiver to develop a confidential and secure profile describing licensing/investment/partnering opportunities of interest to you. Select the technology/IP categories and/or subcategories for which you wish to receive technology/IP listings.

4. Choose the subscription package that best suits your needs. (For the first few months this service will be offered for FREE-CanBiotech reserves the right to change this in the future.)

5. Indicate that you have read and consent to the Terms and Conditions/Policy Statements. You are now a member of the IP marketplace.

6. Edit your profile and category selections at any time.

7. Use the receiver portlet to check for CanBiotech matched technology/IP listings. The IP posting templates found at http://www.canbiotech.com/mpIPListing.asp are filled out only by IP holders to be received by partners, investor and/or companies.

8. Ask specific questions of technology/IP holders.

9. Use the receiver portlet to indicate to technology/IP holders your interest in a particular listing via an invitation or delete the listing if you are not interested.

10. Contact the entrepreneur and finalize the details offline.

North American partners/investors/companies can use this IP marketplace to interact with Canadian and U.S. entrepreneurs via a matched service. Interact with only those technology/IP holders of interest to you.
